Final Reflection

Overall I feel that my project was a success; however, I am waiting for my book to arrive from FedEx as I write, and I hope it’s as good as I think it will be! I really enjoyed exploring New York City through photography. It is such an amazing, energetic, vibrant city to photograph. I feel that I improved my photography skills with hands on experience. Technically, I learned how to produce better pictures using exposure compensation and white balance. I also learned that it is very important to change perspective to get interesting photos, moving with your feet until you get the right shot, even going a bit wonky with the angling. I also learned that it is possible to use a slower shutter speed to capture motion while still shooting handheld. Another aspect of this project was creating the book itself. I didn’t realize how much time and effort goes into creating a photo book. When completing a project like this, it is important to set aside enough time to layout the book and write content as well as enough time to have the book printed and shipped. I am very fortunate to have been able to participate in a senior project. I loved experiencing New York City through the lens of a camera. I feel like I not only grew as a photographer but I also saw New York in a different way.
